Steering wheel, gear nob (infact gear stick looks odd compared to my 66/67), Stereo looks as if it means the dash will have be cut, speakers also, coil cover, not sure where the carb intake and filter system is etc, guess it just need refitting but easily could be k&n style as not fitted in pic.

Just doesnt look like 23k worth. I guess i'd want an original paint minter for that. Maybe im being harsh, but for 23k IMHO you can afford to be.

it doesn't even have windscreen wipers.
And to miss a bolt on the engine mount....
could go on...

I guess posting this, and saying 'Worth it though in my opinion' for 23k is going to get a load of comments, and miff a few people.

My best friend is into BMWs and he has just restored a CSL to this standard - bare metal respray, complete nut and bolt restoration - cost him nearly £40k including engine work. He restored another one in the late '90s and that cost him around £20k at the time.

My work colleague might be interested in this car actually. Are those things you guys have just mentioned costly to correct? He's thinking to go and see it in 10 days time.

There's my point Paul - I for one have spent definetly over 20k on my Targa including the original purchase cost, some quite extensive bodywork, engine work and just loads of small stuff. It isn't perfect now, in good condition but not going to win any concours and I still have the interior to sort out - its nowhere near the standard of that restored car.

Mindyou, it isn't an ornament I want to drive it.

Hmm... my shopping list with 23k. I'd like to get a second car for the track, something seriously kitted out.

He's here now. Says he's not interested in the blue one any more and will take your advice.

I know what you mean Jesse. After my France roadtrip last year mine picked up a few stonechips, but it already had some before that anyway so I didn't care. I intend to take it on a European trip every year, and the most important thing is not to break down!

I'll be after another trackday car at the end of this year, sold the Impreza I owned jointly with a friend. It won't be a Porsche though, can't stretch to that unless it was a 944 which I don't like. Probably an E30 Beemer this time.

Not a problem so long as you apply autoglym windscreen polish on and keep over 70mph - mine haven't worked for a few months either!

hello Mark.

I think Davids car looked an absolute bargain. Would have loved to have the space and money. Perfect project especially with that engine.

I agree, Davids car did seem like a great bargain, can't believe the lack of interest  If I had the money I'd have bought it too.

Hi all

A recent sale to add to this list, over £22k for a well restored car, with an Andy Prill engine and sorted body (all within the last 2 years). Not totally original but fitted with period or recreation race inspired parts. The sale price does not reflect the cost of the build but a good price for a great 912 (if I do say so mysefl  ).

I do believe that the 912 is finally getting its day......I say about time as it is a great car! ROLL ON THE £30K 912

Hi Jon

Well done, high price but deserved given the quality of your car mate.
We published a price guide in Porsche Post this month and yours has already broken through the ceiling of what we estimated for concours!

RESTORATION - £3000 - £5000
POOR - £5000 - £7000
AVERAGE - £7000 - £12000
EXCELLENT - £12000 - £17000
CONCOURS - £17000 - £22000 (or more for Jon's car!)

Paul

I had a look up a the artical today in the porche post, a nice bit of editing.....thanks the car looks great, good picture choice. Its a shame that on Thursday I will be putting it on a truck to sweden!

The price paid was £22500, so very happy I don't think my car would fit the title of concours, but is was/is a solid well sorted 912 which has reached a respectable sale price.
