The motor is now back together and has been fully detailed and fitted with stainless heat exchangers and exhaust, hydraulic tensioners and turbo covers. (I am just waiting for the alternator to be re-furbished). I will be putting the spray sealer on this week and hope to have the shell in primer next week.

Anthony, if you need some parts plated or vapoured let me know as this will soon be a service I will offer. I can also get chroming done and will have some pics of that soon.

I picked up the Targa winder mechs today, just re-plated.

Thanks

Original sprayable sealer is now on the car. After a bit of testing I have got the finish looking very original. It used around 18 tubes to do all the inner wings, fuel tank, front tank support area and all the engine bay plus a few others areas. Inner wings and engine bay will be painted body colour as per original.

The fuel tank was also stripped and e-coated before getting a coat of spray sealer.

Thanks

Alan

Fantastic work, I am amazed how quick you are progressing.

I have a couple of spare hours at the weekend, maybe you could restore the 75 for me

Well done mate.

Thanks.

It's been a busy week this week but finally got some colour on the car, and heck what a great colour Royal Purple is, such a rich colour and one you do not see on many early Porsches. The inner arches, front tank area and engine bay are now painted. Also the freshly plated chrome parts are back . There are a few cars worth in the pic, it's not all the targas. Some parts are from my S and are just polished and will be bright anodised tomorrow. With the S even the dash trim is being polished and re-anodised

Again, congratulations my friend! Amazing job you are doing there, I'm trying to buy a targa but it has may mods that I don't like to much, such as sport seats and 3.0 lt engine but I may get it and start with a complete rebuild of my first porsche :D

Try to post more pics of your car's evolution, personally I'm astounded. Great job there!!! :bom:

Looking good Alan, was that the Wurth sealer? You seem to have got a nice 'big' looking texture: with the 3M I struggled to make it like that, it kept trying to come out a bit fine :? .

BTW, I'll ring you in the next day or so to update you on 'stuff' :)

Hi,

Barry, it is indeed the Wurth Spray Sealer. I borrowed the gun from Nick and did some testing before use. Wurth have two different types of gun. You can get one free with 32 tubes, (I am told they don't have those until February) or there is a more expensive one which I am persuading the rep to give me as my next order is building up.

Thanks Alan: looks like I'm going to have to sort out a Wurth account! :)
