I’ve also got a reproduction aluminium engine lid on my 2.4 s which is for sale as I’m replacing it with a steel one.
If you’ve still got the contact details for Günter Chrzanowski can you PM me with them please as I’d really like to try and establish more of the history of this car and whether Günther Sr was the first owner Jürgen Barth has suggested. I’d really like to find the Wagenpass for the car and one day maybe the car itself…

Looking Great,
I saw your car at Greatworth earlier this week. Engine lid and bonnet are lovely, didn't realise just how light an alloy engine lid was.

Thanks Rich!
Yes superlight but sadly grp bonnet and alu doors won’t be staying on the car - not legal for 1972 Appendix J so back to standard steel parts and hence going spare… Not the alu lid though which was legal thankfully!

That's a shame, they look like like lovely parts and fit so well. I'm really tempted but I'm so close to getting my car on the road that I just need to carry on with the bits I've got.

Some would say you’ve got a problem
In seriousness, these details are fantastic… and to be fair without you detailing them here they’d would Probo pass most of us by when looking at the finished car

Agree; bumper tape surprises me, a thin felt type and not just some decal or even painted stripe.
They obviously thought the tape would be protective?

Yes sometimes I think I need to lie down in a darkened room! But the reality is I’m just doing whatever the factory did - e.g. the ‘69 only MFI fuel line clamps I need as seen here…

Hi Matt,
Are you sure it is felt type? I have some Tesa tape at home I used for my wiring looms that are regular pvc type.
Kind regards
Gitesh

No, not sure! All it says is Tesa tape and all I could find on Amazon and eBay was Tesa fabric tape and finding 25mm wide tape was even harder!
Unfortunately it’s not possible to work out from my hundreds of photos of the 21 S-Rs whether it is fabric or PVC tape either…
