Great work Paul - must be great to build a car from the ground up! While at the headlights, there are some nice, simple bulb upgrades I did on mine which were a vast improvement on standard.

I really hope you don't have a bag of bits left on completion!

I'm already sorted on the headlights, fortunately for me the previous owner had recently converted them to HID units. The ballasts are hidden in the inner front wings, just behind the lamps. They are much brighter than the standard offering. Perfectly useable.

Oh and... I've still got one bit left over I don't recall where it came from. Hopefully I will remember....

I could find no evidence of the engine mounts ever having been replaced. And they looked to be the originals fitted at the factory.
So, I wanted those changed. But with what kind?

The C2 mounts are hydraulic damped and represent quite a sophisticated and expensive engineering solution.
Whereas RS mounts are very much firmer. Largely by being simple solid rubber.
The C4 mounts are reckoned to be a half-way house and were stiffer than the normal C2. That was because Porsche wanted to locate the drivetrain more precisely for the 4-wheel drive cars. Those mounts are a combination of solid rubber with some damping.

RS mounts are the least expensive at about £150 each side. And C4 about the same. But C2 mounts are nearly twice that price.

I felt RS mounts would be too firm and I discounted them.
The C4 mounts might be tolerable but you will experience more harshness and noise. I anguished over the 'upgrade' to C4 but I discounted the cheaper option and I've gone for the C2 mounts as fitted originally.
A standard 993 coupe is still a wonderful sports car, it was - in it's day - a high performance car with a wonderful blend of capability and comfort.
I will be happy with that performance coupled with a easy ride.

It is lovely assembling everything so clean and pristine. Very rewarding.

Do you want detail?
Well, I like to secure my bumper plugs with hidden cable-ties (otherwise you invariably lose them on track-days after screwing in your towing eyes).
So, here's one about to be affixed. With a perfect matching Mexico Blue cable tie. Now that's detail....

Doing, not done. In fact the engine hasn't run yet so I've been doing assembly at Nicks (saved me transporting the car home until it's under it's own steam).
Things like reassembling the spoiler/tail lid and the sports seats I've been able to do at home.
I will confess that for sorting the suspension, brakes, under trays, exhausts, etc, a professional ramp is a godsend and much safer too.

I guess it seems mad to pay £30+ (each door) for that sheet of sticky plastic but it’s good stuff, I’d recommend you use the real deal, perhaps unsurprisingly they are perfect for the job.

Here’s another little Porsche update they went on to devise. It’s a simple felt seal that helps eliminate drafts around the door handle.

To help waterproof things even more and possibly improve the sound system I fitted some speaker enclosures.
They were then sealed behind the waterproofing membranes.

Ah, that reminds me....

I was assembling a door/window frame and accidentally swung it round to hit the car door. Yikes!
Yep, it was scratched. I tried to polish it out but it was too deep.
Richard (the paint sprayer) was philosophical, "it happens".
And it does, to muppets.

The door had to be resprayed....
