Sounds like you will all have a fabulous trip! :)
Not jealous at all. Much.
I'm off to Goodwood on Saturday as some form of mild compensation for not going!
Enjoy! :)

Got my details through this morning.
Mistake on my Eurotunnel booking that I now need to rectify - invoice details are correct but not matched by the Eurotunnel booking confirmation.
Suggest you all check your details carefully.
Have left a message with 1st-tickets.

Back from 3 weeks away including 3000+ miles rallying across Europe in the 914/6GT ultimately ending up in Cortina and Venice before a leisurely tour home over 9 days.

Car was great getting 5th overall (albeit not eligible for overall awards), 1st in class and won all bar one of the closed road test on the Classic Marathon. I thought it was a useful warm up for the DDk Euro Tour
As ever I wrecked first & 2nd syncro/dogs/sliders in my test efforts but nothing a load of parts and 8 hours labour couldn't solve this week. God bless Jonny/Danny and Unit Eleven in Warrington. :thumbright:

Full strip, spring clean, polish, new pads and softened tyres yesterday in the searing heat and just got to pack her back up today and should be ready to go Thursday. Can't wait

James,
on the last update list I can see on here you didn't have Sarah and I down for the guided museum visit. Can you add us on please ?

Hi Bootsy, (hope you are feeling better by the way :thumbright: )
For what little it's worth my vote (if there was one  ) would be to move to a new server that can support email notifications. I really think this would be a positive step. Appreciate things might be more complicated from a practical perspective but I for one would be in favour. I can't think of another similar car club Site I'm a member of that doesn't facilitate email notifications on threads/topics. Maybe it could be controlled by limiting the number of threads/topics/sub forums that any individual can follow or making any lapse after 30 day if the person doesn't visit or there is no posts. I won't pretend I know anything about how complicated this is in practise and will shut up now I've said my piece :salute:

Baden Baden Spa alert
I've been to the Baden Baden spas before (albeit maybe 20 years ago whilst in the army). Things might have changed in the meantime, but be warned these are traditional 'German' Spas and being completely de-robed was normal if not expected. Being 20 something soldiers at the time we of course thought this was the next best thing to a free peep show, but don't get your hopes up :( My lasting memory that I've been trying to dispel for 20+ years was of 10's of fat middle aged hairy Germans smelling of BO.
So if you forget your trucks/costume that James recommended then don't worry, just let it all hang out and do as the Germans do. I'm sure we could give the middle-aged fat hairy Germans a run for their money.

See you on Thursday at Hull.

PS Anyone else coming from North Wales, Cheshire, Shropshire, Lancashire, Manchester way want to meet up for the drive across to Hull ????

Andrew

Andrew,

Happy to move servers but given the the financials versus the traffic generated its doesn't actually balance therefore unless I start monitizing DDK on a more aggressive level or fund it out of my own pocket then its a no - and to be honest I always said that when the club becomes something I can no longer just enjoy and have to start worrying about incomings and outgoings then my time is probably served.

The next step up costs on a monthly basis and a substantial amount

I have recently been approached by somebody overseas to buy the forum and commercialise it so maybe that's the option. I'll bow out , sell it on and let it find its own path.

After 10 years maybe its time anyway as its taking a lot of my time these days and without sounding needy it can be a thankless task sometimes.

Hey, maybe I'm just on a bit of a downer due to real life stuff but maybe the time has come

If only it was Jason, I'm tiring to be honest and after a decade maybe I've had enough and it's time to pass it on.

POB possibly gives me the perfect place to bow out.

Cheer up you big lezza. Just cos Andy Murray won Wimbledon theres no need to be so down, I'm miffed off too!

What makes DDK so great is it a passionate bunch of people who DONT WANT this to be 'owned' or become something it is not already.

If ever there was an actual 'community' that is a forum then THIS is it and I visit lots and lots of forums etc. Nothing compares to DDK. The members here make this what it is and you captain the ship perfectly.

We are all friends here and all respect each other (apart from that 356 selling tosspot and that Ford banned forum guy who once frequented our shores) and I get away with slagging everyone and their cars off as everyone knows I love them really

If it's genuinely getting too much and starting to really feel thankless then it's not weak to ask for help mate - lot's of people I'm sure would be happy to share the burden of keeping it running as it is, you just need more crew on the ship.....I'll be first to volunteer my time for whatever you need :)
