Catching up with this on a rainy Friday, looks fantastic Keith. A Southwest run must be in order to christen her....?

Well, a bitter-sweet day. Tim "Impmad" came down today and we finally got the engine fired up! Sounds fantastic but still needs fine(r) tuning, so that's tomorrow's task. BUT there is a big oil leak from right hand camshaft oil seal... :(

But, hey, it sounds awesome and it's a major step - sadly accompanied by another step backwards, too...

If its the front seal it can be done engine in. The can pulley has to come off then the 3 bolts behind it. Then the alloy thrust. Clean up , new gasket, new o ring then reassemble re time and box up.

Congrats!
I've actually done that seal change on my Lola engine, a 3.2, and wished I'd taken the engine out...

While you wait at Bob's, 1 hour tops for him.

That's great news KS. A seal is a pain but easy peasy. You're on the finishing straight.

Well done Keith - must be hugely annoying but you're almost there. Looking forward to seeing the end result.

Thanks. Tim left this afternoon after we gave up trying to do anything more as the oil leak is so bad.

Edited this post as my problems aren't your problems. I need to get this sorted by whatever means I can – trouble is, I have no time to do anything now until Easter at earliest due to magazine schedules...

You weren't expecting to take it to that VW show were you? It'll be ready when it's ready and it'll be worth the wait.

Unless UKIP get in and ban forrun cars. Then you're borked.

Don't worry Keith, none of these are show stoppers, just frustrations. Some hopeful comments about the seal, and I know I can get to the bottom of all the issues that we've found over the last few days. Can you let me know the part number for the injectors. And can you get a set of resistor plugs ? I think you had BP6ES, so BP6RES , or something like that..
Now focus on the positive.... It has a fan belt, proven the charging circuit, started it and that has proven the fuel, ignition, and a load of other stuff including allowing you to balance the TB's !!
Not bad really :)
Hang in there, I remember similar frustrations with my car, now long forgotten.
I'm happy to help.
