John it looks like you are doing a fantastic job and Light Ivory is one of my favourite colour. But why bother with paint when you could have a cool outlawed/NATO look? ....

The car is coming along great. If you ignore the bumper that has just been thrown on the shut lines look very good. The boys have spent a lot of time just making sure every thing fits well and the car looks nice and straight. It’s difficult to tell from the photos but it’s looking very promising.

Very excited.

Yes I think so, should be getting close by the time I come back from work in a couple of weeks.

By the way on the last photo the front offside wing has just been thrown on so the panel gap at the front of the door to back of the wing has not been set.

Note:
When checking the fits on the bonnet, make sure the catches are fitted. It adds a few mm to the shut. I didn't do this and consequently when I fitted the latches I couldn't get the bonnet to look shut !!
Now sorted thanks to Barry

I've just been catching up on your rebuild having not been on DDK for 6 months, yes I know I should be ashamed but been sooo busy.
Cars looking great, I can't believe how much work has been done on what was a sad looking tub when stripped.
Well done, keep up the good work and can't wait to see it when finished.

Hi matt. Welcome back. Yes the tub was a little sad might explain why the car was soft to drive compared to yours. Should be a big difference once sorted.

Make sure you fit a bonnet seal as well, not an aftermarket one, use genuine Porsche only, they are softer and allow the the bonnet to sit flush rather than being forced up in the centre.

To add:
I found the gas springs on the bonnet and rear lid influenced the fits too on my 73T with steel bonnet.
With a glass bonet the strut bowed the bonnet moulding..

Wow. Just spent the last hour reading 20 pages. Absolutely incredible skill, creativity and workmanship shown. If I'm feeling emotional after reading the thread and looking at the pics I can only imagine how the owner must feel to see all of this coming together.

The people involved in keeping these works of art of the road are providing an incredible service for future generations

Hi Darren I must have missed your post

As far as I am aware it’s just a conventional but high quality etch primer applied with a gun.
