Looks like a modern hillclimb paddock to me.

But that is what is likable about the hillclimbs, it is grass, it is full of club root motorsport and many of the people look like that!

But I love the 404 estate....

Same as clubman rallying - out in the wet - especially the service crews without huge tents erected to drive your works car into. Not a lot has changed as said at the grass roots level of motorsport.

Grass roots motorsport to me always meant where you could turn up in your everyday road car and compete. Nav rallies , hillclimbs, sprints and autotests used to be the main such events. These days you could compete, but you wouldn’t be competitive.

Stage rallying was the next level, Clubman’s I would have known it as, where you now have a dedicated car. So I’d agree with Winston, Rallycrossing a 911 ain’t grass roots motorsport

To stop cracks spreading...

But the hole is separate from the louvre pressing…….

I would guess for a chrome trim if it was a road car - but imagine this isn’t so don’t have a clue.

Yes, but on louvered panels it's not uncommon for a crack to form at the end of each louvre, especially on stressed aluminium panels - the hole stops the crack spreading any further. Drilling a hole accurately would be nigh-on impossible at the very end of the stamping. As it is, the crack could spread a mm or two and stop.
