For interest's sake, this car I showed on my hillclimb diary now belongs to Cornwall-based John Fordy. Just about everyone will know it in its previous life: Mark Sumpter's very successful PCGB championship winning race car! Yes, the famous pale turquoise and blue livery now resides under a Rubystone wrap... Lovely car and beautifully prepared.

The 2 being in a different typeface is shocking!

That's what comes of having the event organisers supplying the race numbers...

Out of interest, how good is the close-up appearance of such a wrap - & how 'delicate' or durable is the finish ?

I knew John had bought the 964 but when I saw it at St Gouéno I didn’t recognise it as the same car. The end result is remarkably similar to the original factory finish, as opposed to paint that has been treated to modern detailing processes and products. Think of a good cellulose finish as opposed to a modern clear coat. The secret is finding someone who uses the best products and is prepared to go the extra mile around body seams and panel gaps. It cost about £3500 or so, apparently. I was very impressed.
