Got wheel No. 4 completed today!, Just need some tyres now...

I’ve been testing Nexen NBlue HD Plus in 195/65 & 215/60 x 15 in all weathers and seriously cannot fault them. Fantastic value from Camskill/opoeo etc. Seriously stable in wet and dry Hope this helps or offers alternative?

Thanks for the tip, any sensibly priced tyre suggestions are welcome, I cant be running to the Cinturatos unfortunately!

Finally got my hands on a Euro front right indicator housing that wasnt like swiss cheese. Had to source this from the US in the end!





Im looking for a pair of side reflectors to go in my front indicators, cant seem to find a supplier of these... if anyone knows of a supplier or has any good original ones I would be interested. I can install these as and when I get them.

Getting this finally allowed me to install my other H1 headlamp. Actually looks like a 911 now!



Tested all my lights and everything is working at the moment!

I could offer you 4 or 5 well used Kumo's FOC (ex 928 rally tyres - 185/70) ..... but getting them would be the problem !!

Not sure if they still make new ones in that size ????

Thanks Alan but I think it will be logistically difficult to sort out haha, if im going to be spending money I might as well put it into getting new ones that will last me a good few years. I wouldnt be surprised if 185/70 was NLA now!

Things are still moving along. As I was contemplating my seat belt direction a set of '68 dated (correct for '69MY) ROW belts in top condition popped up for sale at an irresistible price so I jumped on them despite not having the money in any way at all. Dave helped me come up with some long receivers and now they are all fitted and looking lovely.





Got some ARB arms and drop links. Fitted them along with my steering rack with new turbo tierods. The side story to this was my 8 week wait for the tierods with endless delays from Design 911, their service if absolutely terrible, everyweek I was getting told theyd arrive in a week, I ordered then 15/11 and by 15/01 I was getting told February! As I ordered them along with other parts, if I wanted the other parts shipped seperately, well I'd have to pay for that privilege! So i cancelled them, along with everything else, told them where to go. I ordered the exact same parts from Rose Passion the same day, ordered, picked and dispatched in 2hrs, with me the next day. Thats how it should be! lesson learned!






Rear ARB installed, getting those nylon ball bushes in is a old git eh...



Wipers with new blades installed, seems odd these park on the right on a RHD car? or am I missing something?



New bonnet gas struts to stop the thing falling on my head all the time



And finally todays tyre palava. Getting new tyres fitted to the deep 6s by Tyres On The Drive (yes im a busy man!). I expressed clearly the value and importance of the wheels and the wheel face "do not damage the wheels or I will go mental"

20 mins later I have 3 nice wheels with tyres and 1 wheel with a gouge in it and a punctured tyre... "the wheel popped out of the clamp..." great stuff... im well miffed off, but imagine how miffed I would be if these were properly refurbed newly anodized wheels, Id be raging. As it is i will be billing them for a full refurb of this wheel, for all they know it is a mint anodized wheel, it has been ruined and will need re-anodizing, which requires a full strip down and re-doing. Whatever transpires its going to be a load of hassle for me because of their balls up... the car is not far from driving now... if only I had a 4th wheel with a tyre on it...!

Other than that Im impressed with the look of my Dunlop Sport Bluresponse tyres, I got 195/60 because I wanted a subtly lower profile than stock. These have 1/2" lower sidewall meaning it will sit 1/2" lower as is, but i can also lower the body to the wheel a further 1/2" too so a full inch lower if I want it. they also appear to have pretty rounder shoulder profile and are designed for "sporty driving" apparently so I have high hopes for them. Glad to see they have a late 2020 mould date too. Shame I only have 3!

Wipers always swipe up in front of the driver so their vision is cleared immediately , so parked on right is correct for rhd

The tyres will not disappoint.
I have had a set on mine when I 'went back to stock' about 3 years ago.
Wet weather grip is good and confident, not bothered about other features. Have had 3 sets on my daily Skoda in low profile form, super stable towing.

That wheel issue would drive me mad.

Sorry to see/hear that the mobile tyre fitter butchered your Fuchs wheel.

That highlights the need to find/use an 'old school' sympathetic tyre fitter when dealing with Fuchs & other expensive older alloy wheels ...

Sorry to hear that. Did your car have a spare Fuchs in the trunk when you bought it? Can't you use that instead?

You are quite right about this. I am glad to say that Halfords have compensated me for the damage satisfactorily

Unfortunately i had no spare so my wagon had only 3 wheels for the last 2 weeks

Despite having 3 wheels I tried to plod on with what I could

First was wheel alignment, I know I can only really get this as best as I can for now, it will need professional setup as soon as im on the road.

I got a 4th tyre which allowed me to make the big step of putting the car back down on its wheels! Bloody hell it looks low now! You get so used to it sitting 2ft off the ground....
