Just a quick note on that point: I'd better point out that this area is the one and only one (I think) that has been seriously compromised by the wire form.

Although it shows as a sharp pointy bit, we've got in mind that it'll actually be radiussed similar to a tennis ball. Keep in mind that we've got a Kamm tail at the rear, so it would be quite natural to have some form of definition here, rather than, say, a more rounded profile.

That was the thought anyway, although if things are going to change, this is exactly the time to be thinking about it.

It'll be a very grumpy Barry if I get 3/4 through making the wire / wood buck and then we realise we've got to throw a big chunk away and start again. Even worse, and we only realise we've gone wrong when we're on the metalwork . (I looked, and there's no 'toys out of pram' smiley).

Thanks for the front shots Andy (and others). Therefore folks, with these in mind, and assuming you hadn't seen our efforts would you have pictured a bit more flesh on the front wings?

Lets really ask for trouble now ( ): Does anyone think they look too wide? Does anyone think the bonnet looks too narrow?

Oh yes, door handles: I've no idea what Steve has in mind for these.

Personally, as I've said, I love the ones Gary posted up. Whatever we do, I'm allowing for making up some sort of hammerform to enable a factory'ish recess for it to sit in, rather than being plonked on top of the skin.

Ditto any badging as well.

O.K. so it's early days to be talking handles and badges, but on the other hand, lets say Steve commisions something bespoke in both cases. We'd want to at least have an idea of the design so that we'll then know roughly where they'll sit on the skin. In terms of skinning it, I'd hope that by late Winter / early Spring that we'd be well underway with the skinning, so in fact we probably don't want to leave these things too long. Or at least, if we've got them to hand it wouldn't hurt.

hmmm, this project feels like it's getting legs and running away from me! I haven't really thought about this as I've been worrying about the big stuff like whether the body design is going to work at all or whether it's going to turn out like a pup!

But, I do love the DB4GTZ/Porsche Abarth push button flush ones! On headlights I've already got a set of 6v 6 inch sealed beam units, but we will probably buy a set of 6 inch Mini or English equivalents. keep the ideas and input coming, it's all thought-provoking!

If you fancy a bonnet vent a'la the impressive p'shop effect above...

You could use a couple of naca vents (asymetric?) in the metal. Perhaps a little further forward on the bonnet on each side.

Handy for decent fresh-air vents. (decent air flow is always nice in a race car).

Mike's probably right here with the modern thing - hence my remarking on the similarity to the ferrari 599.

aargh! . put some grey primer on the paper last night as I'm sick of it looking like a mobile version of the Financial Times, only for the drying effect to shrink it over the wirework so it now looks like Victoria Beckham after a diet.

I'll see if a top coat in a colour makes a difference, otherwise we'll have to start again with the paper (sorry Barry)!

Instead of paper buy a few lengths of a plain coloured material with lycra in it from your local material shop. A few cans of spray mount and then stretch stick it on. Might work?

You could simply ask Bootsy for some of his cast-offs – must be yards of Lycra laying around!

Keith, I was thinking something with a fairly low lycra content so not too clinging to the structure/figure hugging. I'm almost certain that Bootsy's cast-offs will have a much higher lycra content and consist of colours that will damage Steve and Barry's eyes due to their vibrancy.
