I know it’s got it’s haters but I love it

To be fair I’ve loved most if not all of Ritchie’s cars since the 80s

I admired the sentiment, and the workmanship, to an end goal....but the moment someone thinks 'now let's slam it, narrow the beam and put silly wheels and tyres on it', they sail blindly past the point......Lighten for performance not look. W

Totally agree!
Plus I am none too sure, despite the builders comments it has not been structurally compromised, how it would all end up in even a minor shunt.

Narrow beams and skinny boots are obviously very standard stuff on the VW scene and generally I’m uninterested, but I think on this car it’s a glorious touch. It makes it look diminutive and fragile. It takes the visual weight out of it and moves it back in time a bit giving it a whiff of the Typ 64. It makes it look like it weighs 600kg.

It’s not a performance circuit car, or another carbon copy hot rod and it’s certainly not supposed to win all the NCAP stars. Think of it as a piece of design and it’s arguably the best modified early car ever built.

I wouldn’t want to drive it, but that’s hardly the point.

I don't think anythings been narrowed, just the offset of the wheels thats all. Looks more normal from this angle although definitely slammed! I really like it visually and conceptually.

You would have to work hard to narrow a 911 front 'beam'.
