Re: Your Porsche pic of the day......
Contesting the '53 Carrera Panamericana were 4 Stuttgart 356s, 2 of the 'last 11' Gmund 356 SLs earmarked for competition for their aluminium bodies and Spyders 550 01, 02, 03 & 04, all fitted with pushrod engines. 550 01 race number 154 can be seen at the Collier collection, Naples Florida

Despite attention from the local chapter of the NRA, 152 won the 1600cc class. 550 02 raced through the '54 season then disappeared from view

Having picked his car up 2 weeks previously, Argentinian Fernando Segura brought 158 home 2nd in the 1600cc class

British born actress Jacqueline Evans competed in all 5 Carreras, in '53 in her 'Eva Peron' 356

Now rumoured to be in a private US collection, SL 153 left the road and has been MIA since '53.

SL 199 was disqualified for exceeding a stage time limit, maybe when he got stuck behind this guy. Last seen in Mexico, 199 was in a bad way with its roof hacked off

Despite initial resistance from the wife, I have a reproduction of this factory poster celebrating the class 1, 2 in my dining room

Rather nice 56 Outlaw that is for sale from Europe Collectibles. Unfortunately the metal grill on top of the air horns are useless as air filters and restrict the flow

Is this the last 356 in your pictures which is run by Andy Prill for a gentleman from Monaco?Hugo 356 wrote:Contesting the '53 Carrera Panamericana were 4 Stuttgart 356s, 2 of the 'last 11' Gmund 356 SLs earmarked for competition for their aluminium bodies and Spyders 550 01, 02, 03 & 04, all fitted with pushrod engines. 550 01 race number 154 can be seen at the Collier collection, Naples Florida

Re: Your Porsche pic of the day......
It's a '53 Carrera car, number 162 Manfredo Lippmann listed as DNF mechanical. 550 03, race number 159 was in the Seinfeld collection last I heard.

Those gauze filters might restrict the flow of small animals into the engine but I can't see them having much effect on air.neilbardsley wrote:Rather nice 56 Outlaw that is for sale from Europe Collectibles. Surely loads of air will just slip though gauze filters like that ?

And all the debris that is in the air, that's why you need filters...
