The window frames were in pretty good shape but I took them apart, stripped them and repainted. That was a good opportunity to thoroughly clean all the glasses and rubbers. I replaced the drop channel rubbers/felts with new from Porsche. The external seals were excellent and just needed a clean.

Repainted? Weren't they anodised black then?

(BTW I'm enjoying this thread - it's nice to put stuff back together properly in your own time)

Not that Paul has a lift. I think he's putting it back together in his own time at Mr Moss'

Well, they are painted now.
And if that isn't correct, don't worry, it'll soon get forgotten about when I paint those lovely seat backs....

Sorry, I'm not much interested in media. I don't know what was used but you can be sure it was the best sort.

Capri Mk2. It's only a 1600L so the owner is restoring out of sentiment and not hard nosed commercial concerns. Frankly he's spending a lot of money on a car that won't repay him financially. But it belonged to a family member so it has special meaning.

And yes, Nick has been kind enough to allow me some build time at his workshop. I've been getting in the way a lot. And pinching the odd washer or screw...
Sam & his brother Joe are the guys restoring the Capri and Sam has also helped me with the 993. In fairness the team at Early911 don't know any more about 993's than I do so it's the blind leading the blind.
But seriously, I'm grateful for Sam's expertise and having a second pair of hands for tasks like fitting the wings/bonnet/front bumper certainly helps.

Time to get the seats apart.
The leather covers have a plastic serrated edge sewn onto them. Your first task is to pull that out around the edges.

Then there's a couple of push pin/plastic rivets at the lower edge of the inner back and a couple of hex socket bolts at the top. Remove those and you'll be left with the seat back levers holding the shells onto the seats.

Getting the seat tilt levers off is a task to rival removing the glued on rear seat bases.
The little clip on the end of the lever arm is the culprit. It looks harmless enough but this little fella is tenacious.
I lost two tilt knobs, destroyed in removing them, they succumbed to the forces in pulling them off.
They are only cheap though, no problem buying fresh supplies from your OPC.

And there we have it. Two seat backs. In dark grey metallic. Which is popular for cars these days.

I suggest you go and stand facing the wall and consider what you've done. If you're not careful I will send you to the paint shop.
