Think that is a Mexican 1600i Beetle from around 1995-1997, had one exactly the same colour. Flat screen body, but with front discs, and 1600cc fuel injection, with Polo front seats and switch gear, and non IRS rear beam. Produced in Mexico until 2003. Could have continued for years, until the Mexican government decreed all Taxi’s needed to have 4 doors.

I think it's just a later basic Beetle? I think all the Emden-built ones had the bumper indicators and the lack of through-flow ventilation. A later Mexi would have had side repeaters as well. It's definitely not a 1302, though!

It’s a “Restomod” (sort of, if you’ll forgive the term). Early 70s base model 1300. Stock size wings (daymoldings) with later post 1974 bumpers (integrated indicators). Torsion beam front suspension & IRS rear. 15mm whiteline front sway bar & gaz dampers. 944 rear torsion bars, 944 rear sway bar & gaz dampers again. Boxster brakes front & rear (rear on 944 hub) & 2 pairs of boxster front 16” alloys.

The seats are BMW 1 series leather recliners. Rear seat delete.

Unseasonably nice weather at the weekend so it got it’s first outing of the year.

Sounds like a great spec - I really like a later (post 67) bug when they're done right

And the car's back on the high seas, on its way back to the UK as we speak...

Great photo! 8)

Good to read. The Team with the VW was very popular, did a real run on the major UK hills, great going.
The pic sums up why I do Sports Libra.

The clunky old banger of my LOLA, the everso modified VW and the devastatingly fast Norma, talk about mild-to-wild!

Pic found by accident on FB, quite made my day tbh.

Just found out the new car in my Class for 2026 is a 2.5L Force TAS of Graham Wynn, so my 8 class wins run has come to an end.

Will never catch that car and Graham.

Can't stop progress!

Never right off a season before it starts Graham - there are many variables!

Wise words Wayne, but you will understand my disappointment!

It is the path of progress, 350 kg single seater, all carbon and a very good high speed driver compared to my lot.

At lease Graham is of a similar age!!
