Didn't realise that car was finished & 'on the road'.
That's probably the best angle - a lot of work went into it but the front doesn't really match the rear (IMO) ...

Andy, first time I have come across this car. No idea what the front looks like.

I heard about the car some years ago when I struck up a conversation with the builder at the Beaulieu autojumble.
It started life as a std MGA coupe but the front still looks fairly standard which IMO doesn't gel with the more exotic rear styling.
A quick search found this picture showing the overall look:

From the Telegraph obituary of 1961 Safari Rally winner Major William Coleridge (right)
"The halfway stage was reached after two days and they were allowed seven hours’ rest. Coleridge had counted on a number of late nights in night clubs building up stamina and hardening him to fatigue but it was only with the greatest difficulty that his companions managed to get him out of bed and back into the car"

Looks just like my late father’s R16TX - the car in which I first exceeded 100mph (on the A31 Hog’s Back heading home from Guildford). A fab car, and the third Renault 16 he had owned. Previous models had both been TL spec, the first in dark blue, the second in maroon.

I always try and spot a few interesting cars when away on my travels and this is it so far! At my daughter’s place in Edinburgh and this is in the car park l. She’s got a cool view from her window too

Spotted this coming into Berlin on Wednesday.
Being given a proper squirt whenever the traffic opened up.
Then later some real East German vibes going past the wall, smoking more than my 911!

One hell of a trio... Robert Plant, the wonderful Sandy Denny (RIP) and Jack Bruce's 365 GTB/4...
