Yes same car.
His Targa had just been restored by MW I think and I’ve still got that tee shirt!

Fantastic car & Epic Ad'

"Weighing in at just over 1,900 pounds the car feels more like wearing an oiled lycra swimsuit with a 250bhp rocket strapped to your crotch . " ( read all the way to the bottom of the ad')

So what is this?

Not enough reference points - I thought it was a Covin at first but the rear suspension mounts in the engine bay look 911 to me, but the floor does not (maybe it is a type 3). Certainly has the pancake engine

Any guesses?! In any event, I think optimism abounds…

Description

Up for sale is my modified Porsche 911.

It is a 911sc with a VW type 3 floor and running gear

But it is allegedly manufactured in 1966 so can not be an SC??

Brakes and suspension look all wrong for SC mounting points - so it is an enigma, with more than an air of mystique about it

I quite like it. It's gotta have 912 registration, surely?

Should have a VW Type 3 reg at best as vehicle identity remains with floorpan/chassis. What is somewhat bizarre is the fact that the car is registered with DVLA as a 1966 Porsche, a reference surely to the floorpan etc. Looks like the rather lax US titling has been relied on to register the car in the UK – a savvy DVLA staffer (and there are many these days...) would flag it to have the V5c pulled at the point of sale. At best it would be issued a Q-plate, at worst it would be required to undergo IVA. That would be feasible as long as the floorpan hadn't been cut and shut, etc. However, that's unlikely as the Type 3's wheelbase is five inches greater than that of the 911SC...

The photos are next to useless with regards to detailing the 'body swap', which is a shame.

That was my suspicion- and suggests that the seller has bought something that he thought was something else or is optimistic with the price set

Bit of a post twist - but great to meet you yesterday at the chilled Porsche Pull-In Hugo, and nice to see yours, and the other 356’s.
