Great little cars - don't often see them these days (in fact I can't remember when I last saw one) ...

Friend of mine drove one from London to Iran (his wife was Iranian) in the 70's. Had no issues.

From ATA dispatch rider Pam 'Whizzer' Jordan's obit in the Telegraph regarding her husband & GT40 racer John 'Shunter' Jordan;
"...thrown out of the RAF for indiscipline in 1942...[he] became one of the ATA’s most unruly but most skilled pilots...once, in 1944, taking a wildly illegal detour over Normandy “to see how the invasion’s coming along” in a brand new Mosquito which lacked the Allied black-and-white stripes, meaning either side could, and would, have shot him down...
...Commended by an ATA inquiry for a perfect deadstick landing which saved a new Spitfire, he had omitted to mention that the fuel pump only failed after he had been flying inverted for 10 minutes."

noun

2. an unbranded calf or yearling.
Origin mid 19th century: from the name of Samuel A. Maverick (1803–70), a Texas rancher who did not brand his cattle.

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
I met John Jordan two or three times at NCAE Silsoe motor club events in the early 70's.
We were lucky enough to have John Gott as our Club President at that time, who was a great guy with lots of stories, and he attracted other motor sport people to our club functions.
I first heard Stuart Turner give one of his hilarious after dinner speeches there, and when I heard him again 35+ tears later he was just as entertaining

Those are a couple of fascinating biographies JW, I bet they had some great stories to tell!
