Fitted one of those last year and wasn’t too difficult if old one comes out easily? Great thread

Nice.
Who supplied the Carpet kit? Is the material similar to original?

Thanks Raymond - hope you are keeping well. I hope so! I have read lots about people struggling with the sections in the rear seat squab section particularly so fingers crossed. All of the rest has been out already apart from the centre tunnel doing the resto. I thought I had done all the big jobs, but have several planned now with some inter-dependencies, so have a pretty big strip out to start once the salt goes on the roads. Until then, it is the occasional school run to give my daughter an extra 30 mins in bed instead of getting the bus, and trips to the vets
Did you manage to remove the door step strips without damaging, or did you replace? I was thinking of doing the latter as they are not expensive, and I need some parts from my OPC anyway.

This was a bit of a right place, right time thing. I have been looking at the options for a while, and trying to plan the not inconsiderable investment of carpets and RS door cards etc. I just went round the houses again the other night; Lakewell direct vs D911 for the same product vs USA, and what do you know an unused set popped up on eBay. It is a Lakewell set, from D911 it seems as the seller included the invoice of £670 in the box. They were up for £500 and I had an offer accepted of £450. They have been in the box for nearly 3 years, but are brand spanking, so a great deal for me I just anticipate a bit of standing time for them to settle back to flat. I have not had them all out yet, but seem good enough quality. It is not an RS set as want to retain the rear seats, but I would say they are lighter than the OE / Southbound mixed set I have in already. Which is nice.
I have also managed to find a good deal on the door cards and hardware too, but more of that later (they are due next week)

Wayne you need to do the rear seat swab first and get it lined up properly. Not only on width but length is also key. I was lucky as only managed to cover centre consul by a few mm. So take time with that and centre tunnel, rest is very easy. Usual fit, check, fit, check then glue. Ensure you have solvent remover at hand and good YouTube vid. I took it easy but took about 8/10 hours over a weekend. Man of youre skills will smash it. Interested in door cards?

A slightly annoying day.
Got the dog settled and strapped in for a trip to the vet and it wouldn’t start. This is a first time event, and despite catching it would not run for more than a second. One flat battery letter, I jumped into my daily for a less enjoyable trip...
I assumed it to be a cold start valve, but a bit of research suggests DME as a first port of call. However, before I read this, and after a day on trickle I did eventually start it tonight after about 15 cranks. Warm starting is perfect.
Before I started it, I thought I would fix the last warning light on the dash - the fan belt sensor. A fairly simple fix with a 5mm Allen key, it locates on two tabs so no adjustment is required
The old one
New one fitted
Close, but no cigar aargh! The light goes out on first fire then comes back on and stays on
It appears this also sends a feed to the DME, so I will try the new one in the glovebox tomorrow.

Alas the DME did not fix either issue. It coughs and splutters but does not start. Might be time to get it plugged in, or crack on with the interior now the weather has turned anyway

Head temp sensor? Could be the issue if it starts and runs OK when warm

Most of it is removed James - there is a bit of redundant wiring to today when I fit a new alarm, but only on the live feed side in the fuse board. Not ruling it out as a theory, but I can start the car eventually, which you would not be able to do if it were immobiliser related. Plus, as soon as it has been running for 5 mins, it fires within a milisecond!

my car had an aftermarket immobiliser fitted when it was new ... I had an issue with the car cutting out as I headed into autumn and on cold morings .... it was was fine to start with , but as the cabin warmed up it cut power to the ignition but not elsewhere... took ages to work out what was wrong but it turned out to be a cracked / solder / conductive track and when it warmed up things expanded just enough to cause a break in the circuit ...... the whole lot got ripped out straight away this isn’t your issue but just a bit of info for interest
