Yes currently sat in the attic. As part of a glorious mistake they sent me the RSR adjustable roll bar for the rear, and to correct it they are just sending the front (that I ordered) through. I can make the rear one work with my current adjustable setup so I've got rear RSR ARB for free!

They are in the attic while I finish my 20ton hydraulic press - birthday gift to myself (another one!) is to build that first because you said you needed to use the press in the end to raise the spindles (and yes I know it would be cheaper and quicker to buy one but that's not the point). Currently rebuilding a bottle jack to work upside down - a thread will follow.

And as I found out the first time with my raised spindles , make sure the lads balancing your wheels know to put the weights a good distance in so to clear the ball joint nut

Good point, they will also need to avoid the caliper as there's not much room there either!

With things progressing nicely on the mechanicals it was time to turn my attention to the interior.

I had originally intended to fit a pair of ST style seats but then something else came my way which might be a bit more interesting.

A pair of Recaro Rallye 3 seats from the late seventies. The benefit of these is that whilst still a fairly sporty looking seat they tilt and have adjustable backrests.

Image

One thing I couldn't live with though is the fishnet headrests! So I ordered a pair of headrests for the earlier style recaro sports seats, they should fit, same manufacturer right?

Er No, the spacing and thickness of the rods was different!

Image

Still a bit of modifications later

Sorted

Just need to get them to my upholsterer.

Meanwhile the dash is fitted

And I made up some door pulls

Cool seats - have you seen rocketwrench's thread over on pelican where he's had a pair done in tan leather

I have, though I thought the leather a bit too vintage looking? They seem to be rare enough seats, I can't find many examples on the old interweb.

I quite agree - doesn't work for me - but it's his car. They are nice seats though

Looking good Jon.

You know that those seats always hit the roof when tipped forward? Did we have this conversation already?

So another small project completed, door pull straps.

I wanted to try something a little different, so decided to try some embossing.

Image

So had these made up.

Image

I made up the straps and riveted mounting brackets to the ends.

Next to use a press to create the impressions in the leather I started gently at first but settled on 6 Tons pressure to give an outline I was happy with.

Pretty pleased with the result.

I think those seats are from a Fiat Strada Abarth - a work mate of mine has one.
