Bootsy, I like your oscar lamps as an alternative to pallas and have been considering using them on my car. I've been looking at losing the mounting pedestal and bolt. I think that the rivets holding it to the shell can be drilled out and the lamp mounted direct just like a pallas with a simple adaption. I know aim may be a worry and wondered how far up or down you have had to "point " your lamps to get a usable light? I'm looking for an angle from the horizontal for the lens edge to edge if you can picture that ?

I'll try and give you some reference. Funnily enough I had the discussion about losing the pedestal and getting mine closer to the bonnet just the other day but we decided to keep them as they are

Progress will pause a little next week as my mechanic is going fishing for a week. Still stuff I can be getting in with though and hopefully the re-trimmed seats should be completed next week

Cheers Darren.

Met up with the lady who's doing the seats last night. She's an ex Lotus employee and used to work in their trim shop many moons ago

I think she understood the brief. We will see for sure next week if she did!

So I mentioned that the pace would slow down a little this week as my good friend is away fishing.

It's given me the time to source a few last parts needed and run a few errands picking up and dropping off stuff.

So little steps this week but a little step I've just made which I'm very happy with.

As stated earlier in the thread I had sourced some red and black houndstooth material from The States.

I was very happy with the quality of it and was fortunate enough to be recommended and introduced to a lady (relatively local to me) who used to work in the trim shop at the Lotus factory (which of course is also relatively local to me)

She doesn't advertise or offer her services on a particularly commercial basis but instead takes on pieces of work through introduction.

I patiently awaited my chance to be introduced to her and a slot for my work and took over my seats, materials and grommets.

At lunchtime today I revisited and picked the seats up - turned round for me in less than a week!

Anyway..........

Take my existing BF Torino Nurburgring seats which had black cord centres and strip them down.....

Image

...take a bit of red and black houndstooth and some silver finished grommets (a kit sourced from a marine supplier including punch and press)

Image

delete the headrests and voila.........

Image

Image

Really happy with results and her work. I think I've ended up with something a little bit different and they will break up the 'blackness' of my interior.

Holes were punched for the grommets but a decision was made to back the hole with a layer of material for stability and give it a more finished look rather than a hole displaying the seats innards.
