Snapped half shaft 90 miles from Eurotunnel. Limited slip got me as far as the train, pushed on by friends, towed off by Eurotunnel. Recovery vehicle [un[]helpfully deposited me 10 miles up the road n Ashford Tesco car park at 11 pm - 'run out of hours mate, cant take you any further' - ended up home in a taxi by 1am.
Cant wait for 2020, fantastic weekend . Will have 911 to use next time.....
Did you do 90 miles with power to only one wheel? Different OK?

When I got back to the car in Paris this was attached to it. I'm struggling to read the hand writing let alone the French. However, I guess Isabelle wants to buy the Targa or can't she resist offering something much more interesting?

yes, - thought i had a puncture as the car lurched to the right whilst i was doing about 70 on the motorway.......pulled over, nothing obviously wrong, set off again amid much crunching and did 50 mph for an hour and a half.
Car is fitted with a Detroit Locker. Presume it was doing its job transferring power to the wheel with 'grip'.....
diff needs to be rebuilt as well as new half shaft.....

Neil, you probably know this but it says “If you are a seller, we are looking for a beautiful car to restore, if you’re interested”
“Do not resist”
Thanks to everyone for making us so welcome. It was great to be able put faces to names. Thanks to Robin & James for the organisation.
Dougieboy1 we had a similar miss-hap on the way to Caen with the GMC Motorhome. Just joined the Autoroute when the left driveshaft fell off taking the shock off with it. (Its front-wheel drive) All six bolts had shaken out of the CV joint. So we borrowed 3 bolts from the other side, popped the shock back on and drove on for 200 miles. Luckily someone had packed the imperial spanners!
And a big thank you to Paul (and Carol?) for the BBQ on the way down. We're hosting our own annual BBQ at Greatworth Park next Friday 20th from 6pm, everybody welcome. We're 10 mins from Silverstone if anyone happens to be going there for the classic anyway. We lots of open air space including room for camping. Let us know if you plan to come.
