like most details on this car i've changed my mind on the interior

I got bored waiting days for emails to be answered from the US on red basketweave and red smooth leather and I couldnt find it in the UK

so Southbound are retrimming my seats in black cord centres, GT40 style brass vent holes and smooth black leather outers.

basketweave doors and dash. black headliner. black carpets. a veritable black hole of calcutta

I think they should look the part. not so good for naked driving but apart from that..

I have looked at that car before Jason and it is very cool

2 more... Looks a lot darker in flat light

The sound deadening gets applied hot and is rolled on. Then painted over. So there's 3 layers on top of the primer.. A blow over of grey, the insulation and then the black

That will all be hidden with 69 spec carpet which I think is nicer than the lighter, later version... It's heavier but sits better, has more visual "heft"

Current debate is whether to use missile launcher type toggle switches

Or indeed a 12v fingerprint scanner instead of a key...

superb colour Dan, looks like it might also be invisible to radar.. which would be nice

sounds like you've got the interior options sorted; gonna be a great daily driver! 8)

afternoon all

my car is currently in Tuthills "rally shop" where they re-assemble the cars

after a 6 months go slow the end is now in sight and I am determined to be driving this to CLM. Tuthills have estimated end of april. just the 250 hours reassembly...

after plenty of changes of plan the spec has been finalised as follows:

the 2.7 twin plug 74 carrera engine that was in the RSR rep
fully rebuilt 915 box std ratios but no LSD for now. Sachs power clutch

plain slate grey bodywork, no decals, no trim, just chrome rear overriders. std latches no rubber hooks

Am def flirting with Porsche side decals in a lighter grey or silver, or maybe in orange or red...not sure if it will work or not
S type front bumper

RS finish 7 and 8 wheels ...Avon's
silver/grey finish PORSCHE metal lettering on flat engine lid

orig drivers side round Durant mirror - no LHS mirror
green tint screen with hidden aerial

std H4 headlights with yellow driving lights through chrome horn grilles
RS type door cards in basketweave

RS type lwt carpet set
half cage left untrimmed in grey paint
4 pt harnesses and standard belts
J Stewart vintage Momo on removable hub
black Wevo gearshift with SL knob

black headliner
basketweave trim on dash and seats

exe tc dampers
steel rear arms
turbo track rods
small diameter ARBs
superflex bushes

new 85 litre fuel tank
new SSIs
new stainless single exit Dansk

have thought about one of those Le mans style roof marker lights just because it looks cool but it feels wrong to start putting a wholly unnecessary hole in the roof...

am open to other ideas...the vibe is McQueen / hotrod / Q car / R gruppe / 2.4S look crossed with some 1970 2.2S details... what would you do if it was yours??

photos next week after I take a trip up there. cant wait

Sounds spot on 8) Chrome windopw surrounds ?

I like the idea of dark grey side decals just to break up the slab of colour ... will be much easier to see what else to do once youve got a photo of it sat on its wheels .

I'd probo fit a 2 in 3 out ( capped) rear box on a car like this

Why steel rear arms rather than alloy ?

I loved the noise of the RSR at full chat but tbh am going with single exit for quieter day to day use and a nice clean look James

Re steel good question.. Just because that's what I had

The 72e I bought for £5500 had q a few bits missing or not correct

Chrome windows yep
