Yes, it feels a bit busy at the moment, plus of course there's been the development of the ignition boards and a load of Eckold courses as well.Nige wrote:When is Barry allowed a holiday? Anyway, I'm gunning to get John's car wrapped up in the next few weeks. Just as we started I had it in mind that we would be done around Easter time, but various other pressures have put paid to that.
Funnily enough, we're pretty much spot-on for hours on the project, despite the scope of extra work. The reality is that the holes might have been bigger, once you're in an area it really doesn't make a huge amount of difference in hours whether you are doing a large or small repair (within reason of course).
One thing that hasn't been illustrated yet, is the amount of trial fitting that has been going on. Front bumper aside, the whole car has now been fitted up, and individual panels have been on and off the car many times. Doors in particular might come on and off 20+ times throughout the whole project, and the nearside rear wing has probably been on and off five or six times today already, as I fabricate and align the embryo nearside rear screen repair.
As John says, the end is in sight (just about), but as they say in various circles, when you've done 80%, you've just got the last 80% to finish. It can be true as well, sometimes a very high proportion of all the work comes in the closing stages, although the above trial fitting during the project does mitigate this to a large degree.
Anyway, it's beginning to develop a solidity to the shell that was absent before, and I'd hope this will be apparent when it returns to the road.
Right, better get back out there, I've got a rear screen aperture to sort out
