Well having got the car all together time was (is!) starting to get a bit short to have it ready for CLM - so I booked the car in with Paul Smith at PR Services http://www.prs356.com/ to get things the things done I couldnt do: like a nut and bolt check, set up the suspension, steering, wheel balance, adjust linkages etc and see where any stupid mistakes were that I had made to get it ready for its MOT.
I just didnt have time to get it running at home before trailoring it down to Essex so decided to let him commission the engine too.
I did manage to crank it over without anything going bang and the oil pressure light went out ok. Unfortunately the poor little 6v battery doesnt take much to flatten and ran out of juice the night before taking it down.

So yes, today was the day to go down and retrieve it....I think my chauffeur/support vehicle had a camera....

Needless to say I'm really rather chuffed

I have to take my hat off to you James. I have followed this thread from the start and no one could be anything more than totally impressed with your dedication and commitment to this project. The feeling you must have had when you heard her running for the first time in years must have been a big thrill. The car looks wonderful.

I hope you get tremendous enjoyment from her over the coming years and perhaps you will get some of your 'other' life back now it is completed. Wish you and Tracey many happy years of 356 motoring.

This was one of the best threads on DDK and an inspiration.

Many thanks for the comments chaps - a few more last minute jobs to do like seat belts, last bits of paint, a few detail issues (give it its first clean ) and get some miles on it
On the latter issue - I drove it back from Essex yesterday so it has its first 200 miles on already Didnt have time for an MOT whilst down there so rectified that today

Many thanks Mike for the kind words - I am really looking forward to having my life again! - although, if I'm being totally honest, I think I enjoy spannering more than driving (and certainly cleaning) so no doubt Tracey can get the enjoyment out if it now - see you en France
