Damon Hill was somewhat embarrassed about being featured in that 'dress' when the picture was discussed recently ...

Makes me a bit sentimental seeing that. My second car was a fastback. I'd been driving past it for a couple of years sat on the side of the road, and one day I knocked on the door and offered to buy it. £325 I think I paid for it, in 1990. I loved that car but had to sell it to go to university. As the buyer left he said he was going to turn it into a beach buggy. I nearly mugged him for the keys and gave him the cash back.

That IS an early VW Fastback, right?

Are you talking about the white car in the centre of the picture ?

If so, that's a Fiat 850 Coupe (Series 1) ...

I wasn't totally certain. Still made me sentimental though.

That is a sad picture.
All the adults but for Tony Brooks and Stirling Moss were killed within a few years.
I was at Le Mans when Joe Bonnier was killed.

Do I spy a Jensen 541R queuing for petrol there? There was a bare shell in bits for sale £20k recently. I thought wat a great hot rod project it would make with say a 996 turbo engine in or something equally stupid.

From the rear lamps & rear window I'd say it's a 541S ...

Thought it was a CV8 with those tail lights
Have you seen any 'retropower uncut' on youtube? Amongst other things they are restomoding a Jensen. Craftmanship is amazing

Also... you nearly tempted me to dive in to those videos but I need to crack on in the real world on my own project... https://www.ddk-online.com/phpBB2/viewt ... 28&t=68983
