Depends how you are physically of course, but I’ve had my 911/ 73T with a 3.2 in it for 34 years now.
In those years it has done about 60k miles, hill climb suspension, full roll cage and racing seat with aftermarket for the wife.

I installed 4 point harness for me when I hillclimbed it, but seat belts (from an MGB) which I used for road driving.
Good as no sound deadening, brakes as good as I can get them and led lights.

No infotainment
Oh, and a sun roof!

2 hour drive to Silverstone is ok, runs to local areas ok too, but at 72 years old, that is far enough for us.
Wife glowingly dislikes it, the Boxster is too tempting all the time, so 2000 miles max a year.

Should really sell it to someone who can do hours and hours of fun in it, but 34 years is a long time.

The most enjoyment I get from driving a car is one that has no creature comforts (apart from a comfortable/supportive seat) & dispenses with anything superfluous that adds unnecessary weight (& that extends to any form of cupholder !!).

However, the enjoyment is heightened significantly if the final spec is achieved at what I consider to be a (comparatively) sensible cost ...

Sounds like my 914: Heater? No. Radio? No. Harnesses? Yes. Rollbar? Yes. Lightweight panels that leak? Of course! Loud exhaust? Goes without saying. Bliss.

Aaah. I knew I recognised that reg number. Prior to that pic it was a perfectly tidy yellow RS rep that belonged to Miles5 on here.

£150k spent on a bare rebuild isn’t outrageous by any stretch, the problem comes when you do it on an already good car you’ve bought for £125k.

Wow, its changed a little from when I owned it. It was a nicely done RS rep, rear wings, duck tail, body work in great shape and beautifully painted (all done by a bodyshop owner in Ireland over a long period), and some of the interor. It was still running its original 2.2T engine (originally a very standard T running 14 inch Fuch). I bought it from a very nice chap in Belfast and then drove it to Dublin, took the ferry to Holyhead and drove home. A special day!

Lovely car I sold too soon (and disappeared down an e type/Aston rabbit hole I recently emerged from with a 964 RS). I saw it advertised at PS, but didnt realise it was GLM 7J.

Yes! Look at that! Buy it!

I don’t think £80k feels way off for those miles in that colour. £70k would be too cheap I’d say and you won’t find another easily. Plus a leggy 2S in a boring colour at auction would be more than that and I’d much rather have this car.

It's nice for sure, but at that kind of money there are a lot of options.

Shame it doesn't have air conditioning, but not a show stopper. There are also gaps in the history, which is why it would be good to speak with the owner to get a full story.

I am going to see GLM7J this afternoon. RHD puts me off. FIA papers open up a whole new use case (it comes with all the fibreglass body panels detailed in the technical passport). I love the idea of an S/T rep, who doesn't. I love signal orange. Maybe at 140k it would be a good buy

I could also buy my old 993 RS CS rep in speed yellow back for £125k. Fabulous car with correct 3.8, everything pretty much as per a real one other than the gearbox.

At that sort of money, and with the gaps in the history, that's a perfect candidate for backdating. Get ahead of the inevitable next Singer, and make it look like a 964.
