I always wanted a Pantera - until I sat in one !
Ha ha ..... I haven't sat in one (recently) so I still really want one! Was it the driving position that put you off? I love the look of this GTS, coming to auction next month. Please save / stop me ....

As I recall the pedals were offset ( significantly ) to the left, and the finish on the switch gear etc was fairly poor. I appreciate your assistance talking me out of the XK120 on the other thread, hopefully I can be of help in dissuading you from buying a Pantera and we can both save lots of cash and live happily ever after, rather than continuing to wear a motoring hair shirt and making life difficult for ourselves !

Glad to be of service

Having said that, the GTS you mention looks fantastic !

Saw that on Sunday, looked great, but how does he get away with an unprotected exhaust?
There were a few with exhausts beyond the bodywork.

Never had a problem - all of my modified VWs have run headers similar to this. There isn't the space under the rear valance to tuck away a full tuned-length set of headers. You can buy 'hide-away' systems, but they're not as efficient.

TBH, Police are not really interested in such trivialities, and it falls outside the remit of the MOT...

Wonderful V6 Capri. Is that MFI going on there?

And that belt run on the lhs, such small interaction with the (exhaust?) cam. Would easily jump a tooth!

Looks like Lucas TJ mechanical injection, which we used to run on the Autocavan Modsport Golf back in the 1980s.

I got a very similar shot to that, was it Donington last weekend? Great looking and sounding engine

It was at Donington as was I! You were there too I assume. Re-looking at the picture I was wrong about the cambelt, it does go properly around the pulley. It just looks like it goes on in s strraight line to the alternator, but that is a separate belt!

I think the Capri came back on the back of a recovery truck on Sunday, hope it's ok, couldn't see any bodywork damage - unlike the lovely Anglia that had a flip over

I had ordered one of these back in March before it had appeared on Top Gear. It was going to be a 14 month wait for delivery, which I was okay with.
But after a bit of chasing I managed to find a cancelled order in exactly the same spec. Picked it up from South Wales a couple of weeks ago.
It’s absolutely a brilliant little thing. Built for B road blasting with gear ratio’s that you can actually use. That gearbox is sublime, a joy to use and the IMT that Rev matches down changes means that you can flick down the gear box at will. Almost PlayStation like.
Already covered 1600 miles in it. Can’t stop driving it.

.

I must admit John - I have no idea what that is (apart from being a Toyota) !!

I even typed the registration no. into the DVLA database but it didn't specify a model name so I'm none the wiser ...
