a fitting end to take a blunderbus like that - Cobra ? - on the Targa
maybe Piper should have started a new trendy line of undies at M & S instead ?
cheers

- & there are (at least) 2 cars now claiming the '6167' identity ...
Paul Vestey - who owned the original that Piper crashed - had the engine/transaxle/etc transferred to '6053' &, later, a new body/chassis was built & resurrected as '6167' ...

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
I came very close to buying a Maserati Merak in 1988. I viewed one south of Birmingham at a work from home specialist dealer. Mobile phones were just coming in. The dealer put his into the back of the Merak, it was the size of a breeze block and the handset was on a curly cord. Doing about 100mph along a dual carriageway the mobile rings, without lifting off he fumbled around behind his seat for the handset before having a conversation with a potential customer. During the visit he said you may have heard of me I was in the papers, I got done twice in the same day for speeding, north and south bound on the M5 in a Maserati Bora, circa 120 each time, claimed the speedo was broken.
I looked at a Merak in Manchester, prior to the viewing the seller took my wife and I out to lunch at a very nice hotel (I think he was friends with the manager!!). A nice ice breaker but the car was not as nice as the meal.
Still searching for a Merak I happened to call Eagle (Eagle E Types) I spoke to Henry Pearman. He advised against a Merak, they had one there that a tree had fallen on in the ’87 storms, it had broken a rear spar and they had been waiting over 6 months for a replacement. But he did have something that would meet my needs (2+2). Despite having no interest in 911s I went down to look at their Minerva Blue 2.4S Coupe. Henry drove the car gently for about 10 miles until everything was nicely warmed up (I appreciated that – none of the look how fast we can leave the forecourt stuff!!)) before dropping it into 3rd and flooring it, at which point a fighter jet flew over us perpendicular and at low level – what a shock to the senses, I am not sure which impresses me the most but it was probably the Flat 6 approaching 7.2K. I was smitten. I did not buy the Minerva Blue S but five 911s later I still love them and don’t regret not buying a Merak.

An interesting insight John.
I've always liked the look of the Merak - especially the side profile as above - & contemplated buying one back in the early '90's but was unimpressed by the performance of the 2 I had test drives in ... so ended up with a 924 Carrera GT.
The idea has never really gone away though ...

Here’s another to possibly flummox Andy, Keith and the other experts.
What’s this car then?
