I stopped in last weekend to take some more pictures of the car hoping to see it all polished and ready for the dynomat.
Alex at the bodyshop wasn't happy with two sections on the car, the front wing had a very slight mark and the rear panel wasn't quite right in his opinion.
He hadn't mentioned any of this so when I arrived with my camera and my kids to show them the car, he had flattened it back, resprayed the panels and it was sitting baking in the oven.
To be honest, I am delighted that they are as critical as this and making sure its perfect. I would likely never have noticed the areas, I had already had a really good inspection of the car and had not spotted anything. So its been done and polished up again.
The Alfa is now complete in terms of paint, the whole of the underside has been coated out with UPOL Raptor undercoat and Kent clear wax coat.

The gearbox (all cleaned and coated in wax) is now back in the car, exhaust all connected. All that is really needed now is the build up of the car. 
I need to stay away, it cant come quick enough.
While I was up having a look they [presented me with another interim bill.
So far they have spent 200 hours to get it to this stage, that's all metal and paint. I had hoped to be done at this level of spend. They estimate another 50 hours in the build. It will all be worth it in the end.
I find the best way to forget about the spend is to focus on something else.

A friend of mine has a 2 litre Alfa engine with Webers and five speed gearbox he'd sell if it's of interest.

I have had dynamat fitted to a few car over the years, mostly in connection with Stereo upgrades. I also had my Defender totally covered in the stuff to cut out some cabin noise and stop the alarmingly loud bang every time a stone worked itself loose from a tyre and fired off an inner arch. Very effective stuff.
As you would expect I have been through a lot of the online builds on Alfaholics and noticed they use this on all of their cars. Full kit ordered for mine.
With the car being stripped completely the aim is too deaden as many panels as possible, inside of doors, floor, roof, behind dash, etc. The aim is really to eliminate all resonance and creaks from the car and leave engine and mechanics as the only sound coming into the car.
