DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Finally got round to fitting my ashtray bracket (kindly made by ddker jeffnudd) and fitting the Becker Europa. Fiddly to trim and fit a nice new piece of basketweave behind the radio.

Yes him and his Son Jack have driven down in the 911 for a weeks skiing. Not entirely sure where - alps I think

Steve, not sure what mileage you are looking at there. Mount Blanc tunnel?

We left Nottingham about 11pm, for a 3.20 am ferry from Dover (it was a third of the price of the tunnel). Arrived with more than an hour to spare. Got a v short nap on some bar seating on the ferry. Hit the Autoroute, drove a few hours until I couldn't keep my eyes open, then grabbed another 30min nap, then more Autoroute. I like to use the one that runs further east (can't remember the number tonight) rather than Lyon. After 700 miles of motorway including UK, we were ready for something a bit more interesting. Came off near Bourg en Bresse, and had a superb 40k Route National drive along a limestone valley/gorge which brings you just north of Chambery, then through the Tunnel Du Chat. Got some short GoPro footage from that section, which I will post when edited. Looking a the map, I have realised you can actually drive over the top via the Col Du Chat - looks very winding might try that on the way back (or eastern shore of Lake Annecy, which is pretty). Chambery to Albertville via RN again, didn't want pay any more tolls and more interesting. Then into mountains proper, through Bourg St. Maurice and arrived Sainte Foy at about 5pm, 820 miles on the trip, slightly red eyed! Amazement from other guests - you've driven how far in one stint, in that!

Doing a Back Country Access course based there, and driving out to different stations/resorts depending on conditions. It's off piste, but also using skins to walk up to access more remote runs.

Had a good run out with another ddker on the weekend , visiting a new ddker to chat Porsches over cups of tea and pork pies .... Followed by a quick drive back through the lanes for bacon butties back at mine

Sounds great Ian, and in the 911 too - hardcore not sure of the exact route we'll be taking but understand it to be best part of 1000 miles, well up for it, probably leave Portsmouth 3.30 ish and head for the tunnel, then follow sat nav as its such a distance. Going to do the return leg in two days to take in a bit more of the scenery.
I'm thinking if you don't try you certainly aint gonna make it, nothing ventured and all that !

Changed the oil and the filters on my 993RS



And for this of you that know, yes I did get oil all down my front trying to get the smaller crankcase filter off

Today (well the last two weeks actually) I gave my SC a real treat. I sent her to Steve at Jaz and told him to "sort it" gave him a list of the fiddle PITA jobs I couldn't get around to before this weekend when I'm off to Montlhery with the IB boys, and I mean a list, swap the red lever from the spare handbrake lever over to mine, sort the noisy roof, stop the M&K bumping down under, blah blah blah and give it a full service and check its not going to blow up when I take it to France (it has no history and I don't trust the guy that I bought it from for having done the work he said he had)

Anyway, picked it up from Steve this morning and OH....MY.....GOD !!!!!!!! Its like a new car, he fixed the clutch omega spring and changed the oil in the gearbox and now it....well, it changes without having to use your entire upper body to shift the lever and all my considerable quads to squash down the brick that was laughingly called a clutch and it goes like a bat out of hell !

Absolutely stoked. One VERY happy customer. Thanks to Steve and all at Jaz.

Next is new rear torsion bars so we can drop it properly !

Moved my reg plate from the bonnet to the bumper then drove to Wales and parked under a cliff .

Ooh, I love that ! Where did it come from ??? Do they only do long hoods ??
