Why did you change the seat fixings, are they for modern Recaro's?
morning Dougie
3 reasons really:
a. I want to be able to occasionally use 4pt harnesses and this makes for easy locating of them
b. yes I am using modern Recaro Sportster CS seats which are being retrimmed in black basketweave and plain black
c. i prefer the lower seating position these welded in mounts allow
the std seat belt retractors will mount to welded in plates nice and low down out of the way and the cage has a threaded boss for the upper mount on B pillar.

this car was Sepia brown ex Factory
having just read Keith's latest magazine I find in there an essay on brown, nay a veritable paeon to the joys of Sepia, penned by our favourite classic Porsche racer (and purveyor of extraordinarily undervalued very rare 968 club sports

) Mr Robert Barrie
who has just assured me he was deadly serious
should I really paint it Sepia?? I cant quite see it but I will entertain it as an idea
this linky is quite seductive and not far off the spec of what I am building:

Sepia Brown is good.
But it's not as good as Leaf Green, is it.

Thanks for that link, Dan. I had been wondering what had happened to my favourite Sepia car. That black R Gruppe they have for sale looks pretty special, too.

time waits for no man as they say and I got a call from Tuthills asking me why hadnt I sent my engine lid up...
the one original to the car was quite nasty so rather than buy a new one I am reusing the flat lid that came from Mr Highfield before I wrought the transformation on that car
the flat wide boot of the 968 was just about perfect...
the shell is now pretty much ready for paint:
new RS type quarter bumpers fitted with the trim holes filled (i have ticked the box marked trim delete):
new rear seat pans in (not that they will be ever be sat in, doh):
EB Motorsport bonnet fitted extremely well:
Old and new meet up quite well. About the only bit left that is still the red the car was in when I bought it:
some fiddly bits of leading that others might have overlooked but could not be left as was, eg a hole in the gutter attended to:
oil cooler test fitted for 2nd time and the front bumper vents that will feed it:

So with that all done in the last week or so it became time to choose a colour
i toyed with Sepia Brown and I really tried hard to persuade myself that it is cool and retro
I couldn't. especially when I looked at this. Colour is a personal thing and it just doesnt do it for me
So in consultation with John the paint guru we have mised up a bespoke colour inspired by Keswick Green and Slate Grey. I like to call it Slate Grey UK, thats because most of the great photos you see of Slate cars are under bright Californian sunshine or indoors. In our much more "flat light" I think it looks too dark.
See what you think of my lightened version...
my colour is either side and slate is the middle one:
thinking of calling the great man and asking his view
the car I am holding it against is sport classic grey

Love the colour - that bit of green will make all the difference.

Loved the idea of Keswick as it looks really cool and retro........new colour also looks pretty hot and think it will work well.

- Do make sure you're given an exact formulation for future reference, being non-standard it would be difficult to ever match without this.
Looking forward to seeing the car in paint.

In the late Nineties we ordered an ALPINA B10 V8 in Alpina Green with Classic Red leather interior....it looked terrific, and it's cars in combinations like that which you remember...
