An attempt to make a coupe from a Lotus 7 style chassis, that explains the bizarre proportions.
'Not many made it into production' I can't imagine why...

Not enough people with a big enough sense of humour? It has to rate as one of the worst vehicles of all time...

So many questions! I can’t work out what they were thinking of. It looks like one window (the small one) might slide, leaving a vertical postbox opening, which would be nice. Or maybe the awkward triangular bit drops into the aperture...maybe leaving enough room for an elbow out. Not that you would want to be seen!
One internal door hinge, one external....crikey.
Mind you, Dutton do have a bit of a track record of fugly cars. The jeep style escort based jobby was my favourite, the Sierra. Prepare yourself if you go looking

Way back in the 90s I had a Dutton in my hillclimb class with a v8, fast as almost everything in the class.

Another curiosity from the Paris-Dakar. By-product of long term consulting work Porsche did for Lada & prepared by Oreca, the 1990 Samara T3 used key Porsche components; Andial tuned 964 engine, brakes, gearbox, four wheel drive system (some reports say 959) and Jacky Ickx. Jean Todt's Peugeot / Citroen were in the ascendency and best result on the Dakar was a 5th in '91

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but a 2+2 E Type misses it totally..
