Re: House of Karmann
Very useful mod that, the 911 could profit from such a change too, but I've only see it in RSR 'Le=Mans' cars i think.
Looking forward to the next pics!

Re: House of Karmann
First time on the Porsche wheels these are 18x7.5 205 and 18x9 225's. I used two sets to make these as the centers of the rear are also 7.5 to get the correct ET offset. Still need to cut and roll the inner arch lips at all four corners. Looking very optimistic that they will fit with a lower stance but good ground clearance. Obviously sitting higher at the back. There is full lock to lock at the front with minimal rub. The body is not fully bolted to the chassis yet so may make some difference to clearance and level up side to side at the rear.

Snug!
How does the IVA see this? Do they have a minimum clearance at all?

Re: House of Karmann
Pete completed a simple but very modern update. The original central hinge springs would clash with the throttle body air cleaners. So seemed simple to replace with a set of 400mm 100N gas struts. Thought one each side would prevent any twisting during closing. The rear lid now opens and closes with ease.

Re: House of Karmann
Quick update,
The Ghia is going on a journey next Friday. Well actually being pushed around the corner to another garage. The suspension is being more accurately set up to ensure the wheels tuck under the arches. That will almost be the last job before body and pan enter the paint phase. A few small holes to finish welding up, final fit of front indicators, weld over the rear exhaust cut-outs, fit the aluminium fuel tank. drill holes for body to chassis bolts.

I have also spent a lot of time planning out the electrical wiring loom. Mapped out all the components, switches, warning lights, EFI so that its IVA compliant. Hoping to find someone who can build the loom ready for me to fit.

Re: House of Karmann
The suspension set up could not be completed. The disappointing set back was down to no brakes fitted, I guess to hold the car in position also without the engine fitted the weight distribution was wrong.
I had a clear plan originally on how the car was to look - vintage 356 with a tinge of outlaw. The boxster sport classic II's look fantastic but have steered the look from the original idea. The wheels offered a realistic budget option.
Going to return to the original plan, keep the car period look. I will find some rims still sized 7.5x18 and 9x18 but with an offset that works perfectly. Most likely an alloy wheel but looks like a 356 steel wheel.
awc Steelies
So finish a few welding jobs, position the brake reservoir, washer bottle, fuel tank, number plates, wing mirrors, roll bar etc. Split the chassis from the body and paint the chassis and bring home chassis to finish fit out. Then move body to paint, however, not decided on colours yet.
Disappointing but after re-evaluating the project going back to plan A.

Looking good - I think you made the right decision style-wise regarding the wheels.

Re: House of Karmann
I have always tried to spec my projects carefully from the start to avoid changes and additional cost. The good news I need some new tyres on my 986 Boxster so might as well get the sport classic's powder coated and use them. After all they were an original fitment.
So on the hunt for some 16" or 17" steelie look rims in the correct offset. I higher profile tyre will have a curved side wall helping with the any rubbing under corner load. Will also look period.
Still very undecided on body colour/s. Originally it was a black/ white roof combo and red interior.
Tempted to use the same colours as the 356A but is it a bit sad to have 2 cars albeit different models the same colour?
Must say Ron Goodman's car collection looks fantastic all the same colour.
