WOW. That is stunning, such a great car. Nice contrast to have both.

I recognise your car from pouring over the completed build section on Alfaholics website. Quick question, why was your car chassis being worked on in the Aston One Seven assembly line.

http://www.alfaholics.com/our-cars/comp ... completed/

It would be great to great a critique from you on the differences in the two cars (I appreciate that your 911 is less than std). The majority on here are obvious Porsche enthusiasts, however there is a huge passions for motoring and other classic marques. I personally also love to hear/ read about other cars and peoples take on what really keeps the passion alive. Its clearly not speed because we can all buy or drive faster cars.

Lovely, lovey car you have.

Thanks again Tom!

I was actually drooling over this car on Alfaholics website for a long time as well...than by total chance I've found the same car for sale and I couldn't resist, even tho the budget I had for an additional car was way lower, the moment I've seen it I knew I had to have it!

The aluminum body has been handcrafted by the same company that manufactured Aston One-77's one, not a bad thing to have on the car's pedigree! :)

In terms of driving experience, the Alfa is much lighter and nimbler than the Porsche, the weight distribution is of course another good advantage and it allows you to play a lot more with the back of the car while the front is more precise when getting into a corner. I prefer the Flat 6 engine of course but the Alfa's is actually quite good and at times you won't believe it is just a 4 cylinders! The Alfa is fitted with many "modern" components too (brakes, suspensions etc) while the Porsche has been rebuilt only using period parts that were correct for the sport purpose cars back in the days...this is of course another big difference between the two cars and the way these behave on the road!

Maxige,

All sounds good. I drop in and out of the Alfaholics site every so often to see what projects are on going or what cars they are selling. Its very rare for one of their builds to come onto the market, well done for managing to buy it. I imagine it would have been expensive but on the flip side painful for the seller as well, best of both worlds hopefully. I don't think anyone commissions these cars to make money. Not yet anyway!

I love the fact that the body has been handcrafted by the same people who manufacture the One 77, that's excellent, great to have as part of the cars story. Is this std for Alfaholics? If so, no wonder they are so expensive. I haven't seen a car rebuilt by them up close (other than the underside of mine) but I like to think of them almost as a Singer style builder on a different level.

Thanks for the comparison of the cars, sounds lovely and a nice contrast.

Cheers

I knew I should never have done this. :(

I have been meaning to add up the bills to see where I had go to so far. Don't think I will bother with the 911 just yet, it might put me off.

I will take comfort from meeting someone at the weekend who just spent £36,000 restoring a Singer Chamois, which was his first car. He liked my man maths and convinced me that at the end of it all I will have a beautiful car that will be worth what I have spent on it in 20 years time. His Chamois wont.

There ins't much to go now, best just to hide the file again.

Not the best pictures but still nice to see. The bodyshop posted these last night on his facebook page. It's great to see it painted at long last.

Reflection lines on the wings look v straight to me!
Looks perfect in the right red.

Very excited, I haven't managed across to see the car, now that its painted. They are letting it sit and will then full flatten and polish.

The body shop asked how I wanted the finish, to have slight orange peel like it would have been from factory or like glass.

Glass like reflective finish works for me, this is hardly original. 8)
