Well done, another milestone. Your shell looks fabulous.
Little anecdote - when he heard that (like yours) my rebuild would be pretty slow following paint, my painter said that was good news - better to give it time to harden before bolting stuff to it. Of course, being a very nice fellow indeed, he might just have been opting for politeness about my project management skills.

Tom, only just caught up with this and it's fantastic... what a colour, looks sensational!

I really must get things moving again, the shell is complete and I am just waiting on my engine to get started. I stopped in last night to take some pictures and get a proper feel for the colour. I love how colours change some much in the light. The finish might be overly good and doesn't reflect the period look but I love this, glass-like finish not a trace of orange peel.

The colour is closer to silver and powder blue, with lower light it takes on a darker shade similar to metallic blue.

Nice. Is Gemini one of those colours which has different mixes/formulations? Granted most I've seen have been in magazines...so not in the flesh. Your cars are always uber-nice.

If only......

My car is now South with Gary Cook at GDC Automotive. The idea was to ship all that I have to Gary and let him work his magic. It would appear that magic is not all that would be required. Without going into a lot of detail there are some issues with the car that need sorting. Gary advised that I make my way to his workshop to agree a plan. Cheap easy jet flights, dropped my wife and Daughter at Bicester Shopping Village and made my way over in my hired Kia Ceed GT (supposed to be a golf I wont be using Green Motion again - painful ).

I have to say that being shown some of the mistakes and being made aware of potential issues my stomach was churning. It was depressing to see / hear what I thought was a finished shell could now be back to bare metal in areas.

Here is the joy of DDK. In advance of making the trip Darren65 had offered to come along and offer some moral support and provide an unbiased view of what is essential and what might be a suitable compromise. In the end both Gary and Darren managed to get things back on a more positive footing and there is a clear path for the car. The trip was essential to understand how best to proceed and over the next month I should get a much better view of the extent of the work required.

The car is in good hands, I know that now. Fingers crossed the car is straight, it will be back on the jig soon. Darren is a star for giving up his time to travel over and provide some sound rational advice, and my goodness what a lovely car his E really is.
