from the days when the scene had a buzz to it and there always seemed to be some new innovation on the show cars ... rose tinted glasses from me proabally

I remember those events as well, it was a load of rusty shite ‘character’ cars in a field with the odd exceptional show car.
Still good though, rose tinted or not.

Around 97/98, if I remember correctly. Fast and loud summed up that car perfectly.

1972 to 1982 I feel were the nice years of hot rods and 'custom' where anything went, results were good and bad, and many were done by lads in their parent's garages.
I have scrapbooks that cover those times, look at them every few years, great days but I was so young, weighed 10 stone fully clothed, no money but bags of enthusiasm, and so was everyone else!
So glad to have had those experiences.
My 1937 Y Type Ford hot rod actually got me my first engineering job.
Did I ever enjoy building and 30K miles in that car!
3rd and final incarnation before buying the 30'A Sedan I eventually sold in '88 for my 911.
