I’m using ABP Motorsport, they do lots of race car stuff alongside fitting coilovers etc so it’s normal work for them.

My plan is to get the car sat at the correct height (with the 1deg rake) and balanced best I can before I go.

Method is a bit TBA until I try, but I’m currently thinking to support the car front and centre at the correct ride height (with no front wheels) and get the back set level at the correct height, then swap and do the same for the front.

Doesn’t weigh it of course, but physically level is probably a good start with these old cars, they aren’t finely tuned wings and slicks racers

Another subtle upgrade I’m doing is these LED brake/tail lights:

Will be paired with a couple of H4 headlamp LED bulbs as well.

Set up:
Bob Watson told me to set the front with lower arms horizontal which I think is 15mm lower than stock.
1 deg on the sills set by adjusting the rear spring plates, i think you now have the 2 piece design, if so nice and easy to do.

Poles across the front and rear with c/l marked and then same distance mark left and right, Fr & Rr.
Fishing line down each side on those marks, about 20mm wider than the rear wheels. Front track is easy, rear a bitch by comparison if if roughly parallel goo enough to get you there.

That’s the rough plan, only need to get it good enough to drive 5 miles, but currently it barely moves without all the tyres screeching and shuddering!

Thanks, fair to say I’ve not yet had a chance to stand back and really let it sink in, but it’s getting there!

Old school alignment

Just basic zero toe on the front, touch of toe out at the back, 1 deg of neg all round, caster all the way back.



Ride heights set, 1deg down rake. Probably should go for a drive later to settle it then do it all again!

Drove it 4 miles.

Nothing fell off and nobody died

Engine bay full of smoke as the oil on the heat exchangers got warm for the first time.

Alternator light is on, but apart from that all seems to be working.

Going to be a late one tonight… back end has dropped about 1/2” so needs a torsion bar index to bring it back within the range of the adjusters.

But that’s tomorrow evenings job. Too late for trolley jack and impact drivers

Tonight is seats, door seals, mats and a few bits to make it like a car again

Anyone else have new build paranoia…

Ah, those seats, fabulous the time I borrowed them. Wife won't allow me to buy them to make her more comfortable in the 911.

Is it worth doing the '1/2"'? ABP will have it all apart soon.
