25 years ago today, the first back to back nine-second quarter mile times ever run in the UK in a full-bodied VW. Happy days... :)

One of the greatest VW racecars too Keith .. and the golden era of VW drag racing in the uk ..or is that just me looking through rose tinited glasses. Eitherway, it was a great time in the VW world and being a young lad all the built cars were an inspiration and mods always seemed new & fresh. Outlaw anglias also featured in those happy times too . 8)

1952 Split-window bodyshell with glass front end, doors and wings. Chrome-moly tube chassis with IRS rear, four-bar link rear suspension, aluminium torsion bar front end. Engine: 2165cc VW Type 1-based with Carrillo rods, welded and ported VW heads, draw-through Rajay turbo/48mm dell'orto, MSD ignition. Approx 450bhp at 28psi boost. VW Type 1 four-speed transmission with FTC gears, aluminium spool. Best ET: 9.87 at 139mph. First VW-powered sedan in the UK to run legal back-to-back nines. :)

No, that's exactly how it was James :) Craig Winstanley was a personal favourite to watch too...

Remember when we overtook you towing it from the Pod in David Hilton's emerald ( not real colour name ) green Golf VR6? You lusted after that car as it was new out, his first co car and in his v early twenties. He covered it in Hot Tuna stickers so people didn't think it was his mum's!

That's a bit short on detail.
:lol: Cam had 108° lobe centres, rods were 5.6in long, 345 main jets... want the gear ratios and tyre pressures? :P
