Broken it already?

I had only driven it around the yard at home, but when I drove it up to our space at the top of Prescott paddock, it was making a horrible noise. We changed the oil back to EP90 in case it was caused by trying GL5 75/90 oil, but no.
Hopefully it is just backlash adjustment in the CWP
Rather more work to do in the next week than I needed :-(

Hope it’s not the oil… I’ve got some 80/90 GL4 lined up as EP90 is a bit obscure these days!

Well the oil change didn’t make a difference, so you ought to be OK.
A lot of work, and lots of help here from Yellow491 :-) but I’ll have to sit this one out.

Make sure that you have some big washers for the top of the engine mounts, just sayin'.

I'll get my coat

Well. This is nice to hear:

There’s something odd going on as it only sparks when the starter isn’t running, just managed to catch this on the throttle as I turned it off and it burst into life. Not going to miss that opportunity!

Some fault finding to do, but it’s a big step forward. :)

Quick lunch break…

Success!

Not the new batteries (although they do spin the engine faster than the pistons…) but some idiot having connected a red wire clearly labelled 8B to fuse 6B…

And guess what fuse 8 supplies, yes it’s the feed to the CDi box during cranking.

Which is the problem John pointed me towards yesterday in a message…

Thanks to DDK this simple mechanical engineer has fixed an electrical problem of his own making :)
