One of the very best bits about my Hot Rod days in the 70's was hunting for good bits in real scrapyards, where the fat old owner sent you all off into the field to mooch about and come back with a bag of bits.
We always had to turn our pockets and tool boxes out to prove nothing was being nicked!
Alas no more.
I also recall a big yard over in Norfolk which was full of ex USA base early cars, total dream. (Heavingham?). Most of the cars were lying on their sides for parts access.
It was guarded by a BIG DOG appropriately called Fang.
Had to be seen to be believed.
