There seems to have been a few modified black B20 GT's around in recent years.

Mai Ikuzawa (daughter of the famous japanese Porsche racer Tetsu Ikuzawa) had a much-photographed car in SW London & VSOC in the Netherlands had another race-prepared model for sale 5 or 6 years ago ...

Not one for the purists as the drive train is Flaminia 2.8 making 175 BHP in a pretty light car. The car is based on the famous 1951 chopped Bracco B20 GT.

I love the early B20s with all the aluminium fittings. Thornley Kellam are not far from here and I think Rich might have made the seats for that one. He’s had a few in.

A B20 was one of the first really exotic cars I remember. A friend’s uncle was Sir Anthony Staimer and he had an ex works Mille Miglia car that he eventually part exchanged for Pininfarina 250 GT, which I thought a mistake at the time, especially as the Ferrari was £300 more.

The Lancia was red, had Borrani wheels, an air scoop on the roof and very special bucket seats with cooling slots. It was exactly as it had been when raced, even with the white circles for its numbers and it made even the XK150s, Alvises and Aston’s we were used to look rather mundane.

They were incredibly advanced for the day with monocoque construction, the worlds first production V6, the world’s first GT, sliding pillar front suspension (better designed than Morgan) and a De Dion rear end with integral gearbox. Not bad for the forties.

Ah I was waiting to see if someone would post that as I watched Henry Catchpole’s video just the other day. Interesting car - cool and beautiful and ugly in one go
