Agreed John......It certainly is good to see progress...it’s been a long time waiting, but now there is real momentum...Barry is enjoying this one....so far it’s been a lot of minor repairs and panel replacement....once we finish off the cills and floors and move to the back then there will be some proper forming skills taking place as we repair the rear arches
Were actually a bit ahead of this stage, so there should be a steady update for the next few months.....
Know what you mean Mark......There is a possibility I will do it both with and without bumpers....depends on how we settle on fixing them...normally they are bolted on and not easily removed.....let’s see....

Wow .... that looks great already Jonathan. Rear three quarter view with no bumpers (hint, hint) looks superb! Good work as ever, can’t wait to see it progress.

At long last it is underway!
Love the approach with the jig and the 'remarkably stiff' comment on the shell made me smile, didn't think you would say that!
A roof makes all the difference.
Many many years ago I was involved in a V12 E Type write-off project and that shell was all over the place (roadster).
Looking forward to the rear quarter rework.
A refreshing project, weekly updates expected!

Just spent the last couple of hours later in bed reading the thread from start to finish (Cant remember last time I stayed in bed this long...!)
Jonathan, from the outside looking in it looks easy how you have maintained a gradually increasing momentum on this project whilst working, extending house, moving house, renovating new house and family life along with fitting in so much research and detailed restoration by your own fair hands.
The combination of your OCD and the very best talent pool you have surrounded yourself with, (eg Barry Carter

), the end product must be on ‘Parr’ with the very best out there! Makes the recent factory lightweights look simply thrown together
Extremely impressive!!!
You have an exciting year ahead of you!!

Thanks Adam
Thanks for the kind words.....glad it helped pass the time on a relaxing Sunday morning..!
Working with craftsmen who appreciate the quality and time as much as oneself is immensely rewarding....if possibly a rarity...
More soon...

Third sentence is so true.
Find a good specialist and the job is easy, hassle free and done once and correctly.
Worth every penny.
Must be time for more pictures?

i have been down to see barry a couple of times in relation to final tidying up of my 911 and seen first hand, the work he is doing and as ever, it is fabulous. Great project, fantastic early car. love the inner reach wheel arch curves being constructed of riveted and welded straight panels....lots of them!

Another masterclass for us aspiring metal-smiths; I cannot think of anything more tranquil and therapeutic than looking at photos of Barry's work. From the obvious amount of thought that goes into problem solving and planning, to the perfect match of the cut-back original metal metal and the perfectly formed replacement parts (calling them patches seems inadequate), it all just makes me feel good! Is it safe to assume there will now be a waiting list of E-Types chez Barry? Thanks Mr. Parr for sharing this. John in CT/USA
