'Mr Horsepower' is heavily used in the Hot Rod / Custom scene. It's a logo from 30s for Clay Smith Cams.

From Wiki "Mr. Horsepower is the cartoon mascot and logo of Clay Smith Cams, an auto shop established in 1931. He is a sneering, cigar-smoking bird with red feathers and a yellow beak. The image is a caricature of legendary hot rod guru Clay Smith. Mr. Horsepower is rarely without a cigar, but when he is, he has a "cigar replacement" - such as a candy cane for the holidays."

Very little to do with Porsches but I've always liked the logo, like it's connections with the custom scene and of course the colours are rather apt for my car.

Bit of progress and further ideas to report.

Given that some metalwork is being undertaken and in the spirit of a general tidy up and refresh we've decided to respray both sides of the car

A little more extensive than first planned but makes sense and gives me the opportunity to remove the aerial that's not used and fill hole etc.

I've also decided to undertake a few updates to the interior.

So......

Red and black houndstooth cloth is on it's way to me

Image

I've lined up an ex Lotus trimmer to do the inserts on my seats (deleting headrest holes).

I'm also adding a few chrome eyelets/ventilation grommets in the process.

So should end up looking something like this.

Image

and as you may have seen from a wanted advert I'm creating a modified horn push so my Prototipo will end up like this.

Hopefully have some pics of the actual work in the next week or so.

So a quick wanted advert and thanks to Andy Boyle an old Fuchs centre cap offered.

A bit of grinding, modifying of existing horn push, priming, bit of satin black and resin and voila

A new (working) horn push and a little bit cheaper than the $150 if you buy one very similar

You could have those badge bars enameled in yellow and red

Or possibly just as a single bar done as a highlight...

I think that might actually work well :)

Very nice Thomas….I'm also working on a couple of custom horn pushes at the moment.

Looking forward to seeing more.

So a little bird mentioned to me

I will tidy the back of it up even though it won't be seen

Prep work in progress.

Metalwork has been to chase back any rust found. Delete antenna. One side has had B post, Kidney bowl and sill work too.

Both sides of the car will now be sprayed, so will bumpers (as they're changing colour!) decklid also. So by the time it ends up in the booth it will be the majority of the car

Getting closer towards getting some primer on.
