My local Indian restaurant tends to deal in food rather than cars so there is a clue if you look hard enough.
As to the spelling it is believed that the original word is Urdu so no correct English spelling. My local in Bloxwich uses the spelling I originally posted but they are not an authoritive source as they spell chicken as 'chiken'. To avoid further confusion you can also use: briani, birani, buriyani, breyani and probably lots of other spellings too.

Less of the "old" please. And anyway I am sitting in an air conditioned apartment overlooking the Cannes Bay ( no its not a pimped VW van but a geographical feature) so not at all hot.
So anyway, this Biriani belonged to my Nan. She ordered it in Tandoori Massala red with Butter Tikka contrasting leather - A very hot car.
Nan could have bought a DeTomato Pathia for the same rice.
