It’ll look great Gary 8) … you know the kind of interiors I like though so don’t go off my taste

That vinyl you've picked out looks lovely. I just had a browse of the martrim web site. Is leather inadvisable for Amy reason, e.g. harder to work? Also, do you know if the original 911T vinyl weave is available anywhere? I think I did see it one time, but at extortionate prices.

Leather is just expensive and yes, harder to make fancy shapes without stitching. You can stretch the vinyl around the dash in one piece. You’d need to add a join around the top of the instruments in leather.
It’s been done many times and can look good, but executing that stitch line properly is outside my skills!

The smooth vinyl is a pretty good match for the original stuff, but that was moulded into the dash foam originally so would always look a bit different.

The replacement vinyl weave they are sending is this one:

It’s called brickweave by Martrim, but it pretty much the same as the earlier Porsche dash trim.

My car had smooth vinyl on the dash trims, but I like the textured look like this:

Yes, that textured look is thr stuff still present on my dash. I fear it will stand out if I replace the doors with slightly different :(

Martrim will send you samples and I’ll probably have a bit left you can try?

Finally I can make up the trim tonight, get that stuck down and get the heater controls installed!

Love it - yes, please hang on to an offcut for me to compare. Likely I may just buy some and replace the lot - although that could be some time away as I have a lot of jobs backing up :(

Dash panels fitted. Love the new look :)

And the original parts never lined up across the glovebox so that had to be corrected!

.

A good move - looks great !

I always thought that the basketweave vinyl looked much better than the '72/'73 vinyl ...

Yes, that vinyl is just dull isn’t it?

I guess it was thought to be old fashioned at the time, and maybe the plain vinyl was cheaper and didn’t have to be lined up panel to panel.

Obviously being a bit fussy I have lined up each panel and tried to get a pattern match as well. :)

You'd think it was the original vinyl looking at it now.
