It's fairly standard procedure in many (most?) areas now for the local DVLA to want to inspect any imported car applying for a UK registration.

Basically they just inspect the VIN plates/stampings (if they actually know where they should be!) to ensure that they match those stated in the car's paperwork.

i guess thats far anough. its just very frustrating.

BTW one of the clauses is that the VIN & Chassis No plates are clean viewable for inspection.. else your application is withdrawn and you have to apply again.

From experience that's all they check and that it's actually the car you say it is!

Agreed it's a 5min job at best..

I was there yesterday and the 20 year old lad was insisting that an imported Ferrari ( looked only a few years old ) does not have the vin plate there (pointing some where in the front) .... the owner an older guy was ranting in Italian I think about the vin plates..and pointing some where else…oh joy

So you can see they use the most highly skilled people to do the inspection!!! ( my mate who writes for a lot of classic car mags and is very well known on the old school VW circuit knows cars off by heart. ) his boss is a 26 year old girl ( nothing wrong in that.. ) who didn’t even know who made an Austin Allegro..... and the other best blunder he told me was when some one tried to register a 2 door Ford Serria he wanted to make a RS copy she said they never made a 2 door one and the car would have be inspected

Looks like it MIGHT just happen.

Paul & PR Services has moved its service appointment back which will give us time to take it for along week-end(4 day) break around the cotswolds which should help clock up the required run-in miles. not to mention repair our marrage


so fingers crossed it all goes well at the DVLC next thursday and we get out registration number. else it back to plan B.

everything went pear shape at the week-end and the cars back at Zentrum. looks like the engines going to have to be taken apart again.

Sorry to hear that Helen - I hope it is not as bad as it sounds, was hoping to see a picture of it enjoying the streets of Copenhagen.
