I have a 915 gearbox in my 77 and when I stop in traffic I can find it very tricky to get into 1st. I did think this was due to the clutch maybe being on its way out but after reading all your comments maybe I need to play around with the linkage and replace some bushes. I am less than happy with the gear change over all but mine is the only 911 I have ever driven so I have nothing to compare it to. I was thinking of fitting a short shift but i think ive changed my mind. Does anyone have any sugestions on what bushes I should replace and where to start adjusting the linkage.

If you want a really nice shifter for your 915 or 901 box, check out WEVO (
www.wevo.com) or the RennShifter from JWest Engineering (
www.jwesteng.com)
They shorten the throw of the shifter, but more importantly give you a "gated" feel, so no more f-ups shifting from fifth into second
Sure they're spendy, but man are they nice!
