Reminds me of many years ago.
I bought my son a dune buggy. Couldn't believe the speed of the thing. Took it down the park and the boy was having the time of his life. Unfortunately, with a slight lack of concentration, he managed to plough the thing at full pelt into the feet of my Dad.
Went down like a sack of .....
Fun times.

Seem to have caught something nasty from the flight home … feel awful .

So no work getting done on my other big project I spent a little bit of time yesterday kick starting the sandscorcher build .

Most of the bags are unlabelled so spent a bit of time matching bags and the parts list so I could work out the part coding





These are the upgraded bearings I bought

Good to see the kit supplies Locktite and gear grease





Rear wishbones and torsion bar suspension



Motor fitted and I’ve opted for the low ratio gears ( you get a choice of low or high )



And that’s as far as I’ve got . Quite a nice kit to build so far

Looks great and I expect every aspect of the 'vehicle' to be the same.

My Madcap is all nylon and all perfect despite the bangs n crashes.

Body is good but scared (patina?)
Tx needs 8 batteries no less, old school electronics.

Been knocked out with the lurgy this week past week so when I could finally concentrate I did a bit more of the build.

Oil filled dampers were next





Then on to the vw front beam suspension





And eventually front and rear suspension onto the fibre chassis plate. I’d read online that it was advisable to mount the shocks upside down to prevent the oil leaking out

Thought it interesting that your new kit is so much the same as the original in the video.

Got my Madcap scooting round the leafy back garden 5 mins ago, what a treat in the deep golden leaves, about 2" deep.
Forgotten how much fun they are.

Rear down-force spoiler now repaired and re mounted, daughter ripped it off 35 years ago.

This in the latest issue of Magneto...

How's the build coming along James?
Just bought a nacker'd MadCap to restore.

No updates sorry, hoping to get some time to continue on with the build this next week
