Not wishing to hijack this thread or detract from the original post, but it seems apt to mention my own experience.
I did start a thread on here some years ago moaning about the cost of replacement shocks versus those made for a lowered VW that were dimensionally the same as a 356.
My own car had an annoying clunking on the front that even the MOT man couldn’t pinpoint.
I diagnosed the shockers.
My moaning of cost prompted Mike Ruddy (mycar on here) to graciously offer me his redundant set of Konis which were dated 1991.
As recently as last year I finally got around to swapping them over.
The old ones that came off were actually far too long (I’m guessing standard VW items) hence the clunking as they bottomed out.
With the Konis fitted, the car is a revelation.
All the noises from the front are gone and with them set halfway the handling is epic, the car just does not suffer body roll but corners absolutely flat, it’s so good that we now need bucket seats!
We still have the standard front anti roll bar and being an S90 the softer rear torsion bars with Camber Compensator, which is set to its lowest setting!
Interestingly I believe that being a ‘62 S90 it would originally have been equipped with adjustable Konis, but only one remained!
